Since the Moon is the strongest symbol for romantic longing and as a character a lifelong fascination of mine, I thought I come up with something like this. I took a lot of planning on it, especially how moon's face is carved out of the rocks.
It's the old tragedy, beeing nothing without your counterpart but never beeing able to really reach him or her. I hope it looks a little bit lonely ...

Moon and Sun by *Papierpilot ( Suggested by ~banshee69 and Featured by $Moonbeam13 )

My English is not very good. Nevertheless I think that this work goes beyond the simple illustration. It contains mainly particles of dreaming logic. The face of the moon precisely expresses through its unexpression. It is there as if time did not affect it, as with the face of someone who is suspended in deep meditation and perception of what catches its eye. About its technique, I think that the clouds could show more softness, even when this is so minimized by the strong feeling that this work cause in me. The architecture of this piece is balanced and quite armonic. It is a jewel to me.

When I saw "Moon and Sun" I was awe struck. Wonderful attention to details in the rock of the face and the tiny golden sun.Though the moon, for me, doesn't quite have that "umph" of emotion, it is still exceptional. I do, however, like how the sun appears to stare into the distance, and almost ignore the poor moon, this helps add to that sense of loneliness you were trying to convey. The half moon face is a classic image, but the direction you have taken it is fantastic. An instant fav, and I will most certainly be perusing your gallery for more gems like this.

Really Great. Totally different form of medium but a similar imagining i did in 2008.

I'm not sure if it'll allow my link but it's called Chizzie's Moon under my account.
